Turn folders of audio into real audiobooks.

I grew up in Delhi, native Hindi speaker with English as a second language. I've been interested in learning languages since I was in 5th grade when I learned Gurmukhi. Then three years of Sanskrit. I learned Urdu script later from a friend.

I got interested in German in my 30s, and after dabbling with some online material, I finally enrolled and finished two semesters, A1 and A2, at the Goethe-Institut. I loved it. Then, over the years, I lost touch.

Last year I decided to get back to learning German. Between work and family there was no time for classes. So I moved the learning into the gaps: audiobooks in the car, on my phone, in between everything else. The trouble was the files. Loose MP3s, mostly, and every time I came back I'd lost my place. Audio players kept no memory of the chapter or place I was in. At first I made do with some scripts to generate the M4B audiobooks, but with me listening to a number of books, it started feeling like a big task in itself.

And then I created the app that became Audiobook Binder Pro. These days I use it for far more than German. Even my music lessons live as an audiobook now, one chapter per lesson.

It turned out a lot of people had the same problem with different audio: a student binding a semester of Statistics lectures recorded in Voice Memos, someone turning a long podcast series into one continuous book, other language learners keeping their books as M4B files that remember their place across a whole library. The app grew from those real uses, and it still does.
